Here are some of the most frequently asked questions from CBL players...

CBL "League" Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How many games will each team get to play?
Each CBL league will have 18 games scheduled. 18 games plus the playoffs would be the minimum for the CBL season. All games are played indoors at a local high school, college, or church gyms.


2. How many players are allowed on the team?
Each team will have 12 players (men and women). The teams will consist of One 1st round draft pick and 11 free agents. Each city's CBL league will be limited to 12 adult league teams, 18 youth league teams, and 8 over 40 league teams.


3. How do I register to be a player or sponsor?
All CBL registration is  done online via the internet. Click on the links below and it will take you directly to the registration site.

4. How does the draft work?
Each CBL league will have a draft selection process to see which player is picked as a 1st round draft pick. Free Agent players will be randomly selected by a spinning raffle wheel and put on to teams according. Be sure to sign-up for CBL News Alert to get up-to-date information about the events dates, times, and locations.


5. Do I have to draft players?
No, if you prefer you can put together your own team (set team roster) and bypass the draft selection process. If you don't have a full set team roster of 12 players you can draft the additional players that are needed to fill your roster. All teams (adult league) must have 12 players. The youth leagues does not have a draft process.


6. What will happen if I don't get drafted?
There will be a limited amount of players that can register to play in the league (so don't miss out when registration opens!), therefore every registered player will get drafted and will play in the CBL. 


7. Will we have to buy uniforms?
No, uniforms will be provided to every player. Players will be allowed to keep their gear after the CBL season. 


8. What will happen if we don't attend the seminars?
All players are encouraged to attend the playbook classes and seminars! Players will be eligible to play but you will not receive your CBL Playbook incentive gift for attending the classes and not attending classes will effect your player and team power ranking. There is no fee for area resident to attend CBL Playbook classes. 


9. How much will it cost to attend CBL league games?
All CBL games are "FREE" to everyone in the community! CBL Particpants and the people in the community will have to pay to get into CBL All-Star Weekend and CBL entertainment events, that is unless you are a 1st round draft pick player, than you don't have to worry because everything is "VIP"!

CBL Franchise Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

Do you have to have a basketball or sports career background to own a CBL franchise?
No, anyone (men and women) can be a CBL franchise owner. Our CBL franchise training program will assist you with learning the business aspects of the CBL.

What is the cost for a CBL franchise?
The cost of a CBL franchise ranges between $15,000 and $45,000. The cost of a CBL franchise is also subject to increase over time.

Is the CBL a non-profit organization?
No, the Community Basketball Leagues, LLC is a for-profit business entity, but non-profit organizations may purchase and own a CBL franchise.

How do I qualify for the CBL franchise financing program?
See if your background meets the CBL Commissioner/Contractor job description requirements and submit your resume with a cover letter explaining why you think you would be a great CBL franchise owner. CBL representative will contact you to confirm if you qualify.

How long is the CBL franchise financing program?
The CBL franchise program takes three years to complete. If you successfully complete the program by achieving player registration, financial, and operational benchmarks you will be given the CBL franchise that you have been operating at no cost.

Do you get paid if you're in the CBL franchise financing program?
Yes, you will be paid with an incentive based compensation package.

How many CBL franchises will be in my city?
All franchisee CBL locations are protected and there will only be one CBL league in your location/city. Some of the major metropolitan areas (Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago, etc.) will have east, west, north, and south CBL locations.

Can I own more than one CBL franchise?
Yes, you can own more than one CBL franchise and you can own them in multiple cities and/or states. Individuals that are in the CBL franchise financing program do not qualify for multiple locations/franchises.

Can CBL franchise owners play in the leagues or sponsor a team to play in the leagues?
No, CBL franchise owner can not play in their leagues or sponsor teams in their leagues due to conflict of interest issues.

Who is responsible for hiring the franchise staff? 
The CBL franchise owner is responsible for recruiting and hiring their CBL franchise staff. The CBL corporate office will provide the franchisee's with needed paperwork, such as applications, job descriptions, sales materials, etc. 

How long does it take to get a CBL franchise up and running and what are the other cost of running a franchise (i.e. office, equipment, etc)?
It only takes 5 to 8 months to get a CBL franchise up and running. Additional cost (i.e. office space, equipment, etc.) for running a CBL franchise should be consulted with the CBL corporate office.

How often do CBL franchise owners get training?
CBL franchise owners can get training or consulting as needed. The corporate office also has monthly training and business meetings via phone and webinar for all the franchise owners.

I just want to be a contractor CBL Commissioner, what do I have to do?
CBL franchise owners are responsible for hiring contractor commissioners and other staff for their leagues. If you have submitted a your resume we will forward it on to the CBL franchise owner in your area.

How does the CBL Semi-Pro league work? Who will own the semi-pro teams?
Each CBL franchise owner will have the option of owning a CBL semi-pro team. Teams will play against teams that are within a 2 to 3 hour radius. The CBL Semi-Pro League will be governed by the CBL corporate office, but the teams will be 100% owned by the CBL franchise owners.

What is the pay range for the CBL Semi-Pro players?
Each CBL Semi-Pro team will provide game film, meal per diem (after each game), and player marketing and promotion services. This will be the only form of compensation that the players will recieve for playing in the league. The CBL Semi-Pro League will function as a professional prepatory and development league, not as a professional basketball "career" league.
